Description

7TH ANNUAL COASTAL LEARNING SYMPOSIUM:

FOCUS ON THE ECOSYSTEMS

October 13, 2017 – Newport, OR

The Coastal Learning Symposium is an annual professional development opportunity for educators in Lincoln County School District and beyond. The goal of this conference is to give educators content, activities, and resources to engage students in learning about the ocean and coast.

This year’s Symposium theme, Focus on the Ecosystems, was chosen after an assessment of coastal teacher professional development needs revealed a desire for training in local habitats and organisms. Thus, this year’s workshops and field trips are led by both content and education experts, and focus on eight major Oregon coastal ecosystems: rocky shores, sandy shores, estuaries, the nearshore, open sea, coastal forests, rivers/watersheds, and backyard/schoolyard habitats.

Registration includes access to over 20 different workshops and field trips, lunch and light refreshments, special behind-the-scenes experiences at Oregon Coast Aquarium, and more!
